The Sigma is also prepared for computer playback and general DSD professional audio use. The single-ended output stage and a differential gain stage are composed of a high performance 6H30 tube per channel. The Sigma DAC features a vastly overrated, high capacity power supply for the analog output stage with tube rectification and an oversized power transformer. The sound is powerful with fantastic bass performance, super dynamic, airy, detailed and holographic. The Sigma offers an outstanding price/performance and value. Features & Design Full-featured Tube D/A converter Class-A triode vacuum-tube output stage for single-ended and balanced operationSignal Path We believe that the simplest circuits work best together with the shortest signal path. That is why our pre-amplifiers to date have used single-ended pure class-A circuitry. The shorter the signal path is, the less possibility of sonic degradation from various sources, including the wire itself. Even on the circuit boards, the copper traces are kept to a very minimum length. The completely redesigned circuit board provides a more straightforward and direct approach to the signal paths. Logical sequenced soft-start power up for extended tube life Warm up function 0dB negative feedback (of any kind) Ultra short signal path Simplest direct circuit path for purest musical sound and high reliability Low output impedance for driving long runs interconnect to an amplifier, and any tube or solid state power amp No solid state devices in the analog tube output (signal path) Minimal discrete wiring for optimum signal propagation No followers or buffers in the signal path High quality parts throughout Fully hand assembled to insure the highest level of craftsmanship Separate analog output stage for left and right channel Internal hardware PCM upsampler for CD sources to 24/192K (can be disabled) Volume control Native 192kHz PCM and DSDx128 conversion Ultra-low jitter internal clock generator USB input (24/192 asynchronous and DSD) Power SupplyThe power supplies have been further refined with new components and enhanced AC line noise filtration. Separate power transformer windings and filters provide total isolation between the input and output stage which makes this a pure power source and it is a critical attribute for a 6H30 output stage. We also use electrolytic capacitors with much larger storage capacity to make up for the loss in filtering when using resistors in lieu of inductors. R-Core / Low noise – insulated power transformer for digital & analog Tube rectification Innovative power supply provides a high speed energy delivery on transients Separate and isolated power supplies over each stage of amplification Regulated DC filament supplies with soft start for tube AC power line filter to avoid noise and hash from entering into the unit. 6 separate voltage regulators ComponentsThe type of parts used therefore must have a synergistic relationship to the circuit they are placed in. It is this relationship of which type of part to use where, that ranks our products apart from the mass. $5,000 Blacknote DAC30 Tube Model
Blacknote DAC30 Tube Model We are selling this $5,000 Blacknote DAC30 in great condition for a client of ours. One HiFi Reviewer had the following to say: "Blacknote DAC 30 reveals unknown details, amazing naturalness and musical balance. In the bass and middle registers it demonstrates the incredible harmonic clarity. Upper range captivates the finest natural and signature - the ability to show subtle differences in the sound of trebles, sibilance, air loops. Everything becomes clear: where sound comes from, what is the nature of its origin... Hence - the strongest presence." - See more of this review here. This beautiful unit can be yours for $2,000 or best offer. The picture below is of the previous owner's system. He cares very well for his gear and had the following to say of this DAC: "I have a used Blacknote DAC 30 tubed DAC that I have used for less than a year. The sound is excellent and in perfect shape. I used to have an Esoteric X-O1 LE and the Blacknote was so much more resolving, more 3d and way more relaxing just to give you an idea on the sound of this DAC. One of the best that I have heard." Blacknote was the brand name that the Italian company Gold Note originally gave to it's digital equipment. Gold Note now sells their digital equipment under the Gold Note brand name. The gentleman we're selling this for has an absolutely wonderful system and the reason for the sale of the Blacknote is that he got the chance to acquire one of the MSB 3 piece DAC's. MSB has so many models that I am unsure the exact designation but I think that it's the MSB Signature DAC IV Plus, but I could be wrong on the exact model. A very expensive 3 box DAC for sure and it includes volume control so the owner actually uses it as both DAC and preamp in his system. So that's why he no longer needs this Blacknote which is in great shape. He is the original owner and purchased this direct from the US distributor for Blacknote. He used the DAC30 for less than a year and it has been stored now for some months so it's probably close to 2 years old. It was used in a very high quality system with Spectron amps, later replaced by Pass Labs X100.8 amps, and with the extraordinary and rare Beveridge G-3 Electrostats with the unique Beveridge acoustic lens technology and 2 separate subwoofer cabinets. The Beveridges are not well known, they are a small family company. But they have been considered among the world's very finest speakers. They are exceptionally revealing of upstream components and cables and I have worked with my client to help him get things just right. He upgraded all of his power lines to 10 gauge and felt that made a huge difference. Then he bought a Synergistic Research PowerCell 10 MK III SE from us (on the bottom left of the rack in the photo above) and this made a huge difference, he told me that even his wife and his non-audiophile guests were struck by the upgrade this provided. Subsequently he added other Synergistic technologies (this pic was taken before those were added) including a Tranquility Base and Galileo Speaker Cells. We're Synergistic Research dealers and happy to sell you any of their items if you don't have a good local source. I've been testing this DAC30 and another piece of tubed Blacknote gear he sent us to sell, a streaming player which we'll have listed next, and I have been extremely pleased with the sound of both of them. The Dac30 has all of the hookups you could possibly desire, the AES/EBU which is what I prefer plus 4 S/PDIF and a Toslink which you need to have there for hooking up anything that does not have a better connector available. It has both single ended RCA and balanced XLR outputs so it will fit into all types of systems. It can play the high resolution formats that people have these days. So it has everything covered to fit into a traditional audio system with a transport or a CD player. Of course you expect that from any tubed DAC at this price point. Something you don't expect is volume control on both the front panel and the remote which means that you can run the DAC 30 as a preamplifier and DAC. I personally think that this is the best use for this piece of gear, in a simple system where you don't have a turntable you can use it to avoid the expense of a preamp altogether. Hook it up between a good CD transport, even an OPPO will do, and your power amp and you have a very simple and economic system that saves you money on gear, saves you money on cables, and you can have the sweetness of tubes as well. Of course if you are ahead of me in the move to digital files and computer audio you may have no need for the player, I don't know. In addition to having all the features you would expect of a high end tubed DAC, the DAC30 is a thoroughly modern device and includes 2 USB ports for connecting a USB cable from a Mac or PC (or many other devices) to the DAC. It also has digital outputs, S/PDIF coax and Toslink optical for sending your digital signal onward to other devices. I have to admit that I still listen to mostly CD's and while I have hooked this up to my Macbook Pro to test it and it was very easy to just select the DAC in my sound preferences and then play my music through it, there was no driver needed or anything like that. In Windows I understand you need a free driver you can get from the manufacturer website and that info will be included with the unit of course. So I did play music from the computer to test those features and I also did unfamiliar things like putting music onto USB sticks and playing music from ethernet attached (NAS) hard drives to test the Blacknote DSS streaming player we'll be listing soon I'm no expert on these new file types. It's something I want to learn about but I am still more oriented toward CD's and vinyl. I've gotten to be friendly with Mr. Mark Levinson and I've noticed for years now that he travels the world giving demos of his ultimate reference Daniel Hertz systems with Swiss made electronics and speakers made with the Petrof piano company in Europe and that the source he uses is a MacBook Pro just like mine. He does have a special software he uses, called Master Class, that he can apply EQ to tracks with and which allows him to duplicate the wonderful Cello Palette device that he designed with Tom Colangelo years ago. But the hardware he is using is just the same as my MacBook Pro that goes everywhere with me (aside from the beautiful $120,000 pair of piano black M1L speakers, the 4 Swiss made M5L mono block amps and the M6L preamp with built in DAC). Everything except for those 7 pieces is just the same between our setups! And I guess that $120K of speakers and $60K of electronics do make a difference vs. my Able Planet headphones that I travel with but I think it's cool that he's able to do a demo that is arguably the finest system one can buy at any price using just the MacBook and a good DAC as his source, no $100K turntable required. So I definitely need to learn more about computer audio, I would LOVE to be able to have a large collection of music with me when I travel and not just the 30 or so CD's that fit in my little travel case. But I'm not there yet... I'm saving up for a Swiss turntable right now :) And begging my son to help me figure out how to put my CD's on a hard drive the right way. I did it once and apparently chose the wrong file type and need to redo it all. Hopefully someone who is reading this is ahead of where I am on the curve and can make fuller use of all the features that are available here. I was definitely able to appreciate the tubed sweetness that this DAC brought to my music while listening to the output of my $6,000 reference Bel Canto player or to the $3,200 Grant Fidelity CD1000 we're selling for another customer. And I could tell that it works fine with a computer, I just am not qualified to do as much with it as many of you reading this probably are. And of course this is not to say that you have to have computer audio stuff going on to use this DAC30, you can just as well buy this to use with your transport or to upgrade your CD player by adding an external tubed DAC. It can be nice to add a DAC and with this DAC30 you get to add some tubes to a solid state system. You can toss your preamp and build a simple system around this. I know that my main system has power hungry speakers which require solid state amps, at least at the price level I could afford. But I crave the sound of tubes. So adding things like this is one way to add tubes without going to the expense of a pair of the mind blowing $125,000 Ypsilon Set 100 Ultimate mono blocks or some VTL Siegfried II's or something like that. I'm sure we'd all love to have those products but sometimes we want to make an upgrade and the ultimate upgrades are not in the budget. Maybe a Blacknote DAC30 is? In regards to the driver installation process, I found the Gold Note web page that discusses the driver installations needed for various computers. You can visit that page here where you will find a link that includes "all our DACs proprietary drivers to be installed on your Windows PCs." And the information that: "Apple computers don't need drivers since our DACs are just seen as peripherals to be selected through the Mac OS System Preferences panel." As well as the following affirmation from Gold Note: "Please note that also the whole Blacknote DACs line, the former digital equipment brand name from Gold Note, adopts the same drivers for all the DAC15, DAC30 S/S and DAC30 TUBE models." The following introduction is from the included manual: "The Blacknote DAC30 is an asynchronous Digital to Analogue Converter based around a High-Speed USB 480Mb/s port allowing the maximum speed available to stream data flux with loss & compression 100% free. The Blacknote DAC, can play any kind of high resolution up to 24bit and 192KHz audio tracks files from any source hooked with, including the computer. The audio files are streamed into the DAC directly via its USB ports without the need of any Digital over-sampling... The audio tracks can be played from any computer after installation of the supplied special drivers (that) allow total compatibility and superior sonic performance. The DAC display (shows) the real resolution of the files fed into the unit to guarantee the user always(knows) the kind of resolution achieved. The DAC features also a number of traditional Digital inputs and output as S/P-Dif RCA, Optical, AES/EBU XLR to match all the other digital sources possible to it. These unique features and innovations enable the Blacknote DAC to reach again the peak of the Digital Technology, offering another unbeatable powerful unit dedicated for the high end audio market." We also found a wonderful user review which details his experience with the DAC 30 and are including it herefor you: "I've now spent a few days with the Blacknote DAC30, with the following setup: - USB in (iMac running PureMusic) - Volume control bypass My expectations beforehand were a bit mixed, i was expecting warm(ish) tonal balance + a pleasant and "easy" overall sound (italian-made with tubes, what else...?). Even with this limited-time experience and despite the DAC only being broken-in for 20+ hours, i got something completely different. The DAC30 sounds nothing like what you'd expect from "italian with tubes". The sound is delightfully detailed and airy, coupled with a soundstage depth that beats most of the digital front ends I´ve had in my system. At the same time, the midrange has a certain fullness which prevents things from sounding too digital. Transient response and dynamics are simply excellent, with eg. sharp plucking of guitar strings rendered believably both in terms of the initial "twang" and the natural decay of the sound (example Private Investigations from "Love over Gold", Dire Straits). Drums and cymbals have all the required impact (unforgiving on bad recordings) coupled with the nuances that make it sound "real" (the drumstick hitting the skin/rim/cymbal), which tend to get lost with lesser machines. Compared to my previous cd rig (Audionet ART G2 + EPS power source), the iMac/DAC30 sounds more detailed, more transparent, more dynamic and more natural. There might be a slight loss of the finest details in the highest frequencies, but this might be attributed to the lack of break-in. Also, while the DAC30 clearly has better bass resolution, the Audionet might have had a bit better "grip". This is all with 16/44.1 material. The other point of comparison is the highly regarded Ayre QB9 that I had in the system a week back. In my own subjective view (and in my system, mind You), the DAC30 performs better in most regards. In terms of overall neutrality, the Ayre might have been a bit better, but it also tended to get a bit too "polite" overall, compared to the more "snappy" and forward character of the DAC30 (which I prefer). The Ayre was also a bit more dry in the lower register. BUT on most other parameters, i preferred the DAC30 - more air, much more transparency, better resolution of detail, better midrange presence, deeper and more expansive soundstage. And despite the bass being a bit softer, it still had more nuances than the Ayre presented. Dynamics (both macro- and micro) and transient response were better with the DAC30. Caveats? Well some; first of all, the display doesn´t show the incoming frequency when using USB. This was initially very confusing as the display reads "fs.44.100" despite PureMusic putting out 24/96 or 24/192. I checked with the factory, when using USB the display is actually showing the frequency on the "digital out", instead of the frequency currently being received. So it will adapt (and play, uncompressed) to any signal coming in automatically...with any other digital input the display will show the correct sampling rate . The other thing is the slightly flimsy feel of the two pushbuttons on the front of the unit, given the otherwise high level of build quality. I wasn't very familiar with the Blacknote brand until now, but I've cetrainly been very impressed. The DAC30 is currently a strong no.1 contender on my DAC (very) shortlist. I can only speak for myself and i´ve only listened to my own system, but if You´re looking for a very high-quality DAC, You should definitely give this one a try." We have disabled the "Buy it Now" button on Audiogon because we had a whole run of people 2 years ago who agreed to buy then didn't pay. We prefer to do business the old fashioned way where we exchange emails like gentlemen and conduct a smooth and safe transaction for all parties. Because we don't own this we cannot take much less than the asking price for it. If you make us a low offer there is no way I am going to go to this gentleman and tell him that I have a low offer, that so and so really wants it but his wife won't let him spend more than X amount for it. I'll just ignore the lowball offer and wait til a better one comes in. However, if you want to buy this together with some other items, as part of a package deal, then that would be something we can discuss. Just let me know what items you want. If you are the one who decides to purchase this item, thank you and enjoy! Our full store policies are included below the pictures, but for now I would like to let you know about a few of them. For payment, we are happy to accept a cashier's check, a bank wire or PayPal. If PayPal is your preferred payment method then please add the following percentage of your purchase and shipping price to your total to cover the PayPal fees: 3% for domestic buyers or 4% for international buyers. Also, since this is a consignment sale where the equipment does not belong to us but to our customer, we need to ask that the buyer promptly inspect and test the item upon receipt and report any problems found so that if there is a problem found we could withhold funds from paying our customer to deal with the problem. We don't think there will be any problem, but once we have paid him we won't have any recourse if any problem is found. So, please take the time to unpack and test as soon after the equipment arrives as possible. Our policy states that we will hear from you within 10 days of receipt if any discrepancy is found. However, what we really want is to receive your email saying how much this enhances your listening experience right away, just as soon as possible so that we know you are satisfied. But if there is any problem at all then we want to hear about that right away as well, so that we can make it right for you and make this a successful transaction for all concerned! Also, because we're selling this for a client and have to give him the cash for it, we're not going to take trades unless you make us some trade offer that we consider to be so far in our favor that we can't resist putting in our own money to buy your gear. An exception to this that we would be willing to consider would be that if you want to buy this AND some other items that we sell then we'll try and make you a package deal for all of it. Since this is not ours we cannot discount it much, but we can give you an extra discount on other items we sell to make you a package deal. So if you want some Lansche speakers or Ypsilon amps or any of the many other things we sell, which are listed below, then please email us about it. We would be happy to sell your gear on consignment if that would help you to purchase this or other items from the High End Zone. In some cases we might sell your gear on consignment even if you don't want to buy more gear from us, if the gear is very nice. Our most successful customers are very busy folks and we understand that if they spend hours answering questions from Audiogoners, that is thousands of dollars that they lost in terms of what they could have earned with that time. We do have some restrictions as to what we can sell because of the manufacturer rules about online sales and so on, but we do our best to help. We can arrange to have the gear picked up from your home or office, or in some cases we can even have someone come in and pack it for you. Then we will handle all the testing, photography, sales of the item and follow up after the sale. Since many people prefer to buy from a dealer and because we have 12 years of perfect feedback on Audiogon and Ebay with no neutrals or negatives ever we can usually get more for your items than you could get yourself. Depending on the exact item, you may net as much or even slightly more having us sell it. And once you factor in the value of your time, it's a clear savings to let us sell the gear for you. So let us know if we can be of service to you in that area. This DAC30 comes with all original accessories and packaging. The remote has never been used, if you look closely you can see the battery cover still intact. The black slip case pictured here to the right is new as well. If you are not able to check the item yourself in that time frame, please make the necessary arrangements to have someone else make such a check for you in your absence. All sales are final with no returns or exchanges allowed unless the buyer finds a defect and reports it to High End Zone within 72 hours after delivery. See below for special note on delays due to customs on international shipments. If the buyer finds a defect and reports it to High End Zone by email within 72 hours after the item is delivered then High End Zone will repair, replace, or refund at our option. In rare cases we have allowed a return to happen for a 20% restocking fee. Any item that is returned to us due to any reason other than the item not working properly or not in the condition we describe, the buyer will be charged a 20% restocking fee. This includes sales where the buyer "changes his mind", where his wife beats him over the head for spending too much money, where some unforeseen crisis, financial or otherwise, strikes the buyer, his family, his friends/ business/ job/ pets/ favorite sports team/ etc. or any other reason that the buyer may seek to cancel the sale or return the item for some reason other than a mistake or discrepancy on the High End Zone's part. And this includes cases where the buyer changes his mind and wants to cancel the sale before he even receives the item, possibly before we even ship it. We are a small company and the moment a buyer commits to purchase one of our items we are redeploying our capital to get other items for our customers to buy. If you decide 2 hours or 2 minutes after you buy something that you don't want it anymore, chances are we've already spent the money to restock. So the restocking fee absolutely applies in all cases of buyers changing their minds, wanting to cancel a sale after it is agreed or returning an item for any reason other than High End Zone providing a flawed or incorrect item. This does not mean that we will agree to accept a return or to allow for the cancelation of an order where a buyer changes his mind. An order is a contract to purchase and we are setting aside the goods for you the moment you order them. You would never want us to accept a higher offer after we accepted yours and sell the goods to someone else, and we would never do that. By the same token, we expect you to follow through on what you have contractually promised to do and to pay for your item as agreed. So for example, if a buyer who used PayPal were to apply to PayPal for a refund because he changed his mind about purchasing an item, then IF we did give that refund it would be less the 20% restock fee. So the moral of the story is, if you're not sure you want it, just don't buy, wait until you actually are sure, and then buy. It's the same as if you're going to buy a house, you don't sign the contract til you and your wife are sure you want the house and can afford it. I feel like an idiot for having to say this but we have had a number of people who think "I changed my mind." or "My wife says I can't buy the amp." just magically gets them out of a contract they agreed to with us. With no consideration that we have incurred costs above and beyond the listing fees. By taking it off the market we may have lost potentially perfect buyers and we will have to spend more on listings fees and so on. So, we have to be strict about this and ask that buyers please be conscientious here. We charge low margins, that's only possible if people follow through and pay for items as agreed. So while all sales are final and there are no refunds or exchanges unless you receive a defective item and report that within 3 days as specified above, IF for some reason we do agree to accept your return or cancel your order when there is no mistake or defect on High End Zone's part, then you agree to pay us the 20% restocking fee on your order. In the case of items that are shipped internationally the buyer is responsible to make sure the item clears customs in a timely manner. We've had cases where buyers waited a long time to pay their customs bill, delaying the release of the item. The trouble with that is we need to know promptly if there is any problem with your item so that we can file a shipping claim if needed or withhold payment from a consignor or a supplier on a defective item, etc. So we now require that any item be picked up from Customs within 5 business days or less in order to preserve the buyer's protections for shipping damage and defective merchandise under our selling policies. We discourage the use of Postal Mail as it may be harder to meet this deadline using that shipping method. Generally FedEx will clear items within one business day. We can sometimes make an exception to some of the above policies if you change your mind in order to buy something else that we can sell you that costs more. For example, if you make a deal to buy a JL f113 from us and then you decide that what you REALLY want is a Gotham g213, then we can probably work it out to make that switch for you without a restocking fee. That said, please don't buy if you're not sure that you want the item you are buying. If you need to check with your wife, your broker, your business partner, your kids, or the Supreme Court before you buy, please do that. The High End Zone cannot be held responsible for any case of wives beating their husbands for spending too much money on good gear! The High End Zone is a full service home theater dealer located in Southwest New Mexico. While we are well established as the premier dealer in our small town market, we also serve many clients who have multiple homes or live in far-flung places. The world is increasingly a small place and I delight in talking with and serving clients from all continents and many countries of the world. Depending on your needs we are happy to just sell you gear (note some manufacturers may prohibit us from sending gear to certain places) or we can provide a full service experience including system design, acoustic design and construction, installation, programming, and more. We've done work for very high profile clients with multiple homes and we are also proud to serve many hobbyists who enjoy this hobby on a modest budget. No matter your budget, we'll strive to provide the products you want at a price that is fair with top shelf service. Some of the many lines we sell include, but are not limited to: AB Amps Acoustic Sciences Corporation ASC Tube Traps AMX Audio Desk Axonix B.M.C. Capriccio Continuo (ATD) Cineak Crestron Da-Lite screens Daniel Hertz (ultimate audio creations of Mr. Mark Levinson) Denon Dragonfly screens Einstein Escient Extreme Media Servers Finite Elemente Furman Golden Acoustics Hartvig HB Cable Design Ikeda Isoclean JBL JBL Synthesis Kaleidescape Key Digital Lansche Lexicon Lutron Mark Levinson Marantz McIntosh Middle Atlantic Millenium Mozaex Paradigm Parasound PHC (Professional Home Cinema) Polk Audio Revel Runco Salamander Scaena Screen Excellence Screen Innovations SE2 Labs Silverline Audio Stage III Stewart Film Screens Tandem Thales Transparent Cables Tru-Audio Velodyne Verastarr Vidikron Wireworld Ypsilon *List includes lines we are factory direct with as well as lines we get through distribution or through our extensive dealer network. Most customers don't care whether we are factory direct if we provide authentic product and great service at a fair price, but if you care about this or any other issue, please ask us. Unlike most shops that sell a very small number of lines that they are authorized for and will always try and talk customers in to buying just those few lines, we are willing to sell you virtually any line that you want. Obviously we make a lower profit if we have to get it from another dealer, but our goal is to provide you, the customer, with one stop shopping and top notch service. It's more like the business model of Amazon than the old school brick and mortar stores. We want the customer's business and we will try and earn it by providing competitive pricing and top notch service for you on whatever brands you want. Of course if you are not sure what brands are best for your needs and want us to provide expert analysis of what gear represents the best value for your dollar, we are more than happy to provide that too. We spend a great deal of time and money listening to and viewing a wide range of audio and video systems, as well as bringing in gear for long-term testing in our facilities. Most of the salesmen you might deal with in a home theater store do NOT have a high-end audio video system in their homes. I have 4 such systems, including Runcos in every nook and cranny, and I live with this stuff daily. So I truly know what works well and what is worth spending money on and what is not. And even if I used something for years and loved it, when I hear something better, that is a better value, I switch immediately. My main loyalty is to the customer and your satisfaction--I want you to buy not just one thing from us, but all your gear, for life, and to recommend us to your friends and family. To that end, I will strive to give you the best and most honest advice, fair prices and great service. And I'll try to get you any brand you want, ultimately your system needs to satisfy you, not me. Our clients certainly enjoy their home audio and video rooms. We do as well and hope you'll also take pleasure and be inspired by the variety of these beautiful installations. Some aspects of making an informed choice in an audiophile grade listening room or a home theater system are worth a little extra effort. We invite you to contact the High End Zone for help in making your choices, we will make the extra effort worthwhile.

New, Used and Demos available!! Mint customer trade-in PS Audio DS DAC black Excellent condition, original packaging and all accessories. NEW DEMO AND TRADE-IN AVAILABLE INQUIRY FOR GREAT PRICE!Pure DSD done rightIntroducing DirectStream, one of the most remarkable DACS ever built. Hand written, discrete, perfection based conversion that uncovers all the missing information hiding in your digital audio media for all these years. CD’s, downloads, high-resolution PCM or DSD based media are expertly upsampled in the DirectStream to ten times DSD rate and output as pure analog directly into your amplifier or preamplifier. Classic PCM based DACS, including many of today’s DACS that can also process DSD, tend to cover up some of the subtle musical details buried deep within digital audio music; a problem inherent in their architecture. DirectStream solves this problem by employing a pure DSD single-bit approach for both PCM as well as DSD media. This means that your entire library of music can finally reveal all the music and subtle low level details buried deep within its core. Imagine going to a recording studio and listening to a master tape of any recording made. This is the experience DirectStream provides its owners who enjoy a renewed sense of enjoyment and discovery when listening to everything in their library: CD’s, downloads, DSD. Pure 100% single bit DSD based D to A ConverterMost of today’s sophisticated DACs are IC based instruments using off-the-shelf-chips that are Multi-bit Sigma Delta based designs. While these are relatively simple to design and produce, they don’t often give the best results sonically. Because they are one-chip systems compromises are made in their architecture that found in DirectStream’s custom based architecture. DirectStream takes both PCM and DSD, upsamples the data and converts to single-bit DSD and then outputs pure music regardless of input format for the data. The results of this design can be heard in increased musical information presented to the listener at every opportunity.Purely passive output stageMost modern DACs use some form of active tube or solid state output stage to amplify, filter and drive the DACs output. DirectStream takes a different approach: passive. In one of the simplest, elegant and musically correct executions of an output stage, high speed class A video amplifiers are used as the final switch for the single-bit, double DSD output of DirectStream; feeding a high performance passive audio output transformer. The transformer is specially designed to act as both the galvanic isolation between the DAC and the outside world as well as the primary low pass filter required to present a perfect, low distortion, low noise output signal. When you listen to DirectStream you never are accosted by added bright, hard glare in the music as happens with many active designs. Instead, clean, pure music flows from the DirectStream directly to your preamplifier or power amplifier.Resolution perfect volume and balance controlsDesigner Smith perfected a 100% bit-perfect volume and balance control that’s built into DirectStream, enabling users to control the output level when feeding directly into a power amplifier or preamplifier. That the volume control is completely bit-perfect means there is no loss of resolution for any volume setting, a feature unique amongst the majority of DACS in the world today. The ability to eliminate the preamplifier in the system without any resolution loss is a major benefit to DirectStream’s outstanding musical performance.Simple, direct signal path with only one master clockTypical high-end DAC designs use more than one master clock as you can see in the drawing we provided in the Overview page. There are often separate clocks for USB, Audio and others, causing major headaches for system designers trying to synchronize the clocks. DirectStream obviates the problem by basing the entire design on one master clock of extraordinary high quality. Used is a low phase noise, low jitter clock designed for DirectStream by Crystek. Using this advanced approach the need for synchronization is eliminated, jitter levels are reduced and music is delivered with a clarity rarely heard.Immunity to jitter from sourcesSources have always had a major impact on sound quality with DACS. Transports, computers, CD players, cables all make a significant impact on performance into a typical DAC. This problem has been significantly reduced with DirectStream. Now, for perhaps the first time, sources of just about any quality and jitter level sound nearly identical. For example, you can take a cheap $30 DVD or CD player’s digital output, connect with DirectStream and have sound quality unthinkable for such a poor source. Performance levels no longer are dependent on the quality of source or connections; certainly not to the degree they have been in the past. Yes, cables and sources still make a difference, but with DirectStream that difference is reduced to nearly background noise. Whatever you use to play or stream your music now sounds as good as it gets.Asynchronous high speed USBDirectStream can match up to either a computer or a home network. If a network connection is desired, there’s is the optional Network Bridge available that slides right into the rear panel of DirectStream and adds an additional input. You can also connect directly to your computer via USB. USB communication, if handled properly, can have every sound quality advantage of a dedicated CD transport or Network Bridge. DirectStream provides a fully synchronous 24 bit 192kHz path for USB based audio. Using a good quality USB cable between DirectStream and your computer, like a quiet MAC Mini, provides an instant media server that can be controlled through any number of handheld devices like an iPod, iPhone or Android using a 3d party controller program. Your music can be managed by iTunes, Bit Perfect, Pure Music or Ammara for ease of use.Polarity inversionA handy feature on DirectStream is the polarity (phase) control. This touch screen option (available on the remote as well) allows users to select normal or inverted phase for every input and for every performance. Sources and music have no standard for absolute polarity, a fact easily demonstrated by switching polarities on the as the music plays. Many Audiophiles mark their discs in phase and out of phase and are very careful to select the proper phase before playing each disc. Some CD players and sources themselves invert phase so that a disc you believe is inverted actually is correct played on a specific device and incorrect on yet another. To fix this problem you can assign each input on DirectStream to switch to the proper polarity when you activate that input. Touching this control is the same thing as reversing the loudspeaker connections of both loudspeakers (+ to -) at either the amplifier or speakers. All live acoustic music is in absolute phase but some recordings may accidentally be made inverted and should sound more realistic and pleasant when you correct their phase with the switch.Play directly into your power amplifier or preamplifierDirectStream offers the ability to play directly into either your preamplifier or power amplifier through either its balanced or single ended outputs. You can select the optimum gain setting through DirectStream’s setup menu to match your amplifier and loudspeaker’s sensitivity. If you choose to go through a preamplifier, it’s easy to set DirectStream at maximum level (or any level you wish) to match the preamp’s gain. But should you choose to eliminate the extra electronics of the preamplifier, DirectStream is more than capable of driving the power amplifier directly. DirectStream’s unique zero-loss volume control maintains full resolution bit-perfect performance at any volume setting from the lowest to the highest levels.Hear more than you ever imagined from CDsDirectStream converts everything to DSD, even PCM before delivering the music to your system. This approach, coupled with careful design, low jitter and a simple and direct signal path has the benefit of uncovering details buried in the music you may not have realized are even there. CDs come alive with subtle details that were never apparent with your older DAC; details you never knew even existed. CDs sound more like high resolution audio than you ever imagined, closing the gap between higher resolution PCM and DSD copies. No longer do you need to consider replacing your current CD library because once you hear what’s truly on your discs, you may not need to consider upgrading to a higher resolution copy at all. Yes, it is that obvious and significant.

HEGEL HD25 DAC/Linestage
Hegel HD25 DAC. 32 bit, USB for streaming audio. Also can act as a stand-alone Linestage. Includes remote with volume control. Some scratches on bottom of unit due to my Nordost Sort Kones. Light scratches on top of unit, but barely noticeable. From StereoNet:Hegel’s HD25 ticks all the boxes. Soundstage cues are all present; width, height, depth, multi-layered 3D stage etc, perhaps governed more by other components in the system. But more subjectively, ‘musicality’, being predominantly what I had been lacking in previous digital streaming components, had arrived with the HD25. Any remnants of compression, grain and a ‘digital’ dryness had disappeared. From Soundstage! HiFi:But I really enjoyed the way the Hegel HD25 sounded with the music I love best: classical. Orchestral strings sounded consistently silky and sweet, especially with hi-rez files, and there was an unmistakably natural ease and dynamic immediacy in how it presented any acoustic music. It introduced me to a whole new format of sound: hi-rez downloads. It flat thrilled me to explore these new riches -- the best digital sound I’ve ever heard. If I had the extra cash, I’d get the Hegel HD25 right away. Affordably priced, with plug’n’play installation, and easy to operate, it’s an excellent product and a gateway to high performance in computer-based digital playback.

Very Musical.DAC-100 Solid-State USB Digital to Analog Converterhi-resolution USB & SPDIF 24 bit / 192K audioThe Cary Audio DAC-100 is made in the USA and designed to provide high-quality music reproduction from today’s digital sources. All digital audio information needs to be turned back into analog to be handled by the amplifier and speakers/headphones so we can listen to it. Whether from a computer, handheld music players, cable or satellite boxes, disc players, or streaming from cloud-based storage, digital data streams suffer from distortions caused by jitter (timing errors in processing the digital information) and the poor quality of built-in digital converters. An outboard digital to analog converter (DAC) is the solution to these problems. The heart of the DAC-100 are two high current custom built toroidal transformers, one each for the digital and analog sections of the unit. We, at Cary Audio, understand the importance of a good power supply and have spared no expense in designing transformers that perform above their normal requirements. The separate analog transformer has a Faraday shield to reduce noise, and the audio circuits are designed to drive a wide variety of impedances to better match other associated equipment. The audio output section, responsible for providing the actual musical signals, is based on proven Cary Audio designs for the best sound quality. The DAC-100 audio output uses high speed monolith buffers operated with non-global feedback to ensure optimum sound quality. The audio section is fed with its own discreet low noise power supply. The digital bitstream is handled by a new front end designed in conjunction with one of the industry’s acknowledged digital leaders. A Wolfson WM8805 chipset is used as the input receiver for the four (4) (2-coaxial and 2-Toslink) SPDIF digital audio inputs, as chosen by many of the finest DACs in the world. The USB input uses XMOS processing for asynchronous processing of USB computer based music, stripping away the computer’s timing and replacing it with a much more accurate master clock for a more stable bitstream. It is able to handle multiple 24 bit/192kHz channels with extremely low latency, all at 500 MIPS. Once the digital bitstream is managed it is sent to the digital to analog conversion section, comprised of two (2) ESS Sabre ES9023 24/192 DAC chipsets. These circuits accurately recreate the analog musical signals and send them to the buffered solid state analog output stages, and then out to the gold-plated RCA or XLR balanced outputs. All of these processes are designed to have no compromises in sound quality.USB Processor XMOS Asynchronous processing SP/DIF Input Receiver Wolfson model #WM8805Digital to Analog Converters 2 X ESS Sabre ES9023Digital Inputs 5 selectable inputs - (2) coaxial (gold plated), (2) Toslink, (1) USB Analog OutputRCA analog output (gold plated)XLR BalancedInput Sample Rates Accepted*44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz, 192kHzBit Depths Accepted16 - 24 bit, LPCM 2-ch audio stream Power TransformerToroidal transformer (Digital Supply)Toroidal transformer (Analog Supply) Dynamic Range112dB Signal to Noise Ratio109dB Noise and Hum-101 dB below rated outputAudio Output Level 2.0V RMS Frequency Response 20Hz – 22KHzAC Power Requirements120 VAC @ 50/60 Hz240 VAC @ 50/60 HzMADE IN USA6 MONTHS SAME AS CASH FINANCING AVAILABLE ! 0% APR - 1-2-3 YEARS SAME AS CASH ALSO AVAILABLE! 0% APR NO FINANCE CHARGESCOME VISIT OUR WORLD CLASS SHOWROOM IN SCOTTSDALE ARIZONAWe assure our clients of our continued commitment to full satisfaction and delight.Open 7 days, 10am to 8pm Ocean WestUSA Tube Audio - Since 1976 Please call 1-800-676-1085 Sales Ext 2 - USA + Canada 1-323-657-5993 International 52-55-8525-6102 Mexico www.usatubeaudio.com

Mojo Audio Mystique NOS AD1865N-K DAC Demo Sale!
The most analog-like presentation possible from a digital source. No digital filters, noise shaping, upsampling, oversampling, or error-correction algorithms. Direct-coupled analog output stage with no coupling capacitors or output transformers to limit bandwidth or color the sound. Our DAC preserves rather than interprets the digital signal. __________________________________________________________________________________ Built around Analog Devices' famous AD-1865N-K R-2R ladder DAC chip. Decodes High-Definition 24-Bit 192kHz files through a USB Input. 45-day no-risk audition and 5-year warranty. Demo Unit in like-new condition. __________________________________________________________________________________ Error prevention vs. error correction: To eliminate bit read errors, our power supply incorporates over 237,000uf of capacitive filters and seven Belleson ultralow-noise high-dynamic regulators that independently isolate each stage of IC chips. The analog output stage is direct-coupled to provide the most linear and extended frequency response possible by eliminating output coupling capacitors and transformers that narrow bandwidth and cause phase and time distortion. Because algorithms can't appreciate music: With no digital filtering, digital noise shaping, upsampling, oversampling, or error-correcting algorithms, our digital signal path is the purest possible. This is not true of many so-called non-oversampling designs that still incorporate algorithms for noise shaping and error correction. Unparalleled harmonic coherency: Unlike most non-oversampling designs that use a single logic gate for demultiplexing the left and right channel signals, our circuit assures 100% phase and time coherency between channels by using a bank of six logic gates to perfectly align the bits of the left and right digital words to the same clock cycle. And to assure the smoothest possible phase transition, the left and right channels both have an independent circuit that adjusts the voltage of the most significant bit (MSB) at the zero voltage crossing. __________________________________________________________________________________ Specifications: Built around Analog Devices' legendary AD1865N-K R-2R ladder DAC chip. Converts 24-bit 192KHz high-resoltuion music files that are input via USB. Direct-coupled analog stage with no capacitors or transformers in the output. Left and right channel digital word synchronization to ensure perfect phase and time. Independently adjusted MSB for the L and R channels at the zero voltage crossing. Over 237,000uf of capacitance and 7X Belleson ultralow-noise regulators. Balanced noise-canceling power transformer and ultrafast soft recovery diodes. Lab grade filtered IEC plus multi-stage AC filtering - extremely tolerant of line noise. Convertible 4-point or 3-point Sorbothane feet or spikes for resonance control. High-performance circuit board mounted Furutech FT-903(R) RCA connectors. Field convertible to any international voltage from 100VAC to 250VAC. __________________________________________________________________________________ Professional Reviews:__________________________________________________________________________________ Excerpts from the review of our Mystique DAC by Henry Wilkenson: "After listening to the Mystique for a short while, my initial impression was distinctly analogue quality of the sound." "There was no glare or hard edges to the sound rather; it was rich and laid back." Go to "Audiophilia" to read the full review.__________________________________________________________________________________ Customer Reviews:__________________________________________________________________________________ I have owned the Mystique for about 6 weeks now, and thought I’d add my two bits to Henry’s fine review. I agree with his comments except for one quibble. Where he states “If you are looking for the most extended treble, the deepest bass…. you’ll have to look elsewhere.” My reference points are the Lampizator, Level 4, Gen 4, which I owned for 1.5 yrs., and the Berkeley Alpha DAC (*not* the new Ref series), which I demoed while demoing the Lampy. I found the Berkeley unit very good but it sounded “HiFi” — i.e., something about the presentation always reinforced the perception of listening to recorded music. The Lampy definitely brings home the guts and glory of live music and is a real tribute to the passion of Lukasz Fikus, Mr. Lampizator. Only with the coming of the Mystique did I start to realize where those ultimate pockets of musical nuance and articulation resided, the Lampy didn’t go to those places. Instead, there was a subtle “scrim” or sonic signature, if you will. When it comes to Henry’s reference to “extension” — the Mystique delineates the frequency extremes with the same crystalline force it does everything in between. To me, it seems like listening to a mike feed — the feeling is like a whole bunch of electronics between me and music was removed. More so — by a fair margin — than the Lampy or the Alpha DAC. As for the lack of bells and whistles, I’m totally on board with Ben on that. Kit should be heard and not seen. ;<] – David Z., USA (Comment on Audiophilia) __________________________________________________________________________________ Hello, I think I was one of the first owners of the Mystique DAC, and certainly the first in my country (France). I live with it for 3 months now, and I can say it’s a marvelous piece of pleasure for anyone who’s not searching the most versatile stuff in Earth. It only has 1 input, 1 pair of outputs, no screen, no selectable upsampling, no DSD, no remote of other funny things. It’s small, makes only MUSIC, up to 192KHz (enough for 99% of us I believe…). Analog like, no harshness, but all details you want/need. It reminds me the very nice Counterpoint DA10 with Rapture Card I owned a few years ago (maybe 3 times the price of the Mystique...in the 90’s), same character but with « more » things. More details, bigger imaging and « body » to the music. This Counterpoint was a reference 20 years ago, I think the Mystique can be a reference today, for the price and much higher. I’ve never heard a better DAC yet, but I cant’ honestly say it’s THE best, as I’m not really in high-end…only compared with other deemed stuff like the Metrum Hex or with my precedent one, a Dangerous Source with external PSU and also external clocks. Both at least 50% more expensive if you consider the total price of the boxes, and less natural than the Mystique. One other thing I can say now, is that I can hear much more clearly differences between good and bad masterings in my system. This DAC has not really a sonic signature for me: it’s very « neutral » to my ears, and I’m used to studio stuff (only active pro speakers for the other part of my system). But it doesn’t means that bad recordings are inaudible, just that I can much better hear every instrument, and the way there were recorded/mastered. With XLR outputs and a fully balanced build, I believe Ben could have some success with masterings studios (Apogee, RME, Antelope reference’s DACs or many great pro Brands don’t make better stuff, just much more inputs/outputs for engineering purposes…) With Mojo Audio, small and un-ostentatious things means only Music. You can’t get wrong with this one. – Jeff., France (Comment on Audiophilia) __________________________________________________________________________________ Ben: After burning in the Mystique for a while, I went back to my old DAC for a comparison tonight and it was easy to decide to keep the Mystique. [added: My current DAC was a Red Wine Audio Bellina - battery powered NOS DAC. In the past, I've had a Neko Audio D100Mk2 and Eastern Electric Minimax.] What I used to think was great sounding now sounded muddy and diffuse, with the Mystique easily cutting through that fog, giving a clearer picture on the performers and their intent. Cool. – Mike A., NC (Audiogon feedback) __________________________________________________________________________________ My path to optimum sound via Mojo Audio's Mystique DAC has not been a straight line. I did not purchase this product directly but rather was involved in listening tests during the DAC's development and refinement at the home of head Mojo Benjamin Zwickel. I previously had Benjamin upgrade an MHDT Renaissance DAC [that was] about ten years old [that] I won on an EBAY auction, and the improved sound of that device was astounding on my Apogee Diva main system. Ben invited me to do a series of listening tests as he perfected the design of the Mystique DAC with various upgrades. Over a period of several months I was invited to Ben's living room to hear the next evolution of the Mystique. Eventually I fell in love, and when Ben went to production on the final Mystique design, I asked him if I could buy the prototype board. It looked like a science project, which in a sense it was, and i couldn't be happier! Lets begin at the conclusion: the Mojo Mystique DAC is the most transparent DAC I have ever listened to music through, creating an analogue like sound that is unsurpassed by any other digital equipment i have ever owned. It is a pleasure to listen to, non fatiguing, musical, detailed and dynamic. It is my reference digital gear at this point. I have had very expensive Sony ES CD players, top of the line Marantz players, a very good Monsoon audio Dac, and others, but the Prototype Mystique Dac i listen to on my main computer USB out rig is clearly the most enjoyable! This DAC is NOS, using nonoversampling chips that fly in the face of most new DACs on the market. The Mystique DAC is very revealing, garbage in garbage out, but it is not so cruel to streaming music as to make it impossible to listen to. MP3s and Apple Lossless files sound very good through it. Upgrading digital sources to FLAC is revelatory, giving the music glorious textures, tone and spaciousness that rivals my SOTA Sapphire vinyl source. I wouldn't say it makes all my upsampling DACs sound like toys, but it definitely creates a different kind of listening pleasure which makes them second or third choices to listening through the Mystique. I haven't gone all the way yet and created a Mac Mini server to maximize my digital world. But I’m seriously thinking about it, because the Mystique has revealed that digital can indeed rival analogue is musical delicacy power and sound stage. Bravo MOJO AUDIO!!!!! – Dr. Blue, NM __________________________________________________________________________________ Hello Ben, I'm currently hearing my system with your Dac, and it's really quite impressive. I believe there's also a "burn in" after what it will someway improve even more ? The first impression is the huge width, and the "flesh" (my English words are not so good...), no aggressiveness at all. I think it's what the vinyl lovers calls "analog". – Jean-Francois, France __________________________________________________________________________________ The Mojo Mystique [DAC] review (or, how I learned to stop worrying and stop oversampling…) I’ve been using a prototype of the Mojo Mystique DAC a few months now, and I have some impressions. The rave recommendation by Dr Blue (drblueinnewmexico on Head-Fi) piqued my curiosity. I had the Peachtree GrandPre, which my research had shown was well regarded in the audiophile community and was well reviewed, both as a preamp and a DAC. But, audiophilia nervosa struck (as did my inability to resist bargains), so I went for it. So, when I decided to review, I figured I’d do it like the reviewers in those audiophile mags do, describe the sound, and compare to a known reference. I’d use albums I liked musically and sonically. I started with Aimee Mann “@#%&*! Smilers”, the tracks “Phoenix” and “Borrowing Time”, Sarah Vaughn “How Long Has This Been Going On” (XRCD), the title track, and Guy Van Duser & Billy Novick’s cd, “Every Little Moment”, a demo disc if I’ve ever heard one. (They play guitar and clarinet respectively). I’d already gotten some comments from my wife and a friend on how live the clarinet sounded through the system. To get to the heart of the matter, the tubed Mojo [DAC] is rich sounding, layered, great vocal rendition and instrumental texture presentation. Vocals are particularly well served on the Mojo; they are lifelike, lush, and very present. It portrays the sound stage with depth, and preserves great “pace” (as the Linn people used to stress), gets me tapping the toes/dancing moronically, to my family’s amusement. The Peachtree’s presentation is slightly wider, not as deep, more “dry” sounding. Certainly not bad, in fact I was fine with it before I got the Mojo, but it’s a tad more clinical and less involving. Listening to the Mojo to “Every Little Moment”, the sound and feel of air being blown through the clarinet is tactile, and Van Duser’s playing has the edge and warmth nylon string guitars have. Sarah Vaughn’s lush voice and inimitable vocal calisthenics are intense and rich, her swoops ethereal. Compared to the Peachtree, drums more snap, cymbals more bite and body. Maybe it’s the non-oversampling DAC, as Ben says, doing no harm to the fragile digital signal. Maybe it’s the tube amplification, or choice and matching of other parts. Beats me, I just listen. My ears tell me something is really right, though. It certainly provides good value in the realm of affordable (for high end audio) DACs. – Jack S., NJ __________________________________________________________________________________ I started my Mojo journey with the Mojo Lucent ICs which were simply the best I had heard at the time as compared to anything that wasn’t out-of-this-world costly. I was using a Chris Johnson modified Benchmark DAC (with the Burson discret output stages) with the music server and was loving it. The modified Benchmark is an analog sounding music maker – way better than the stock Benchmark. In fact, the modified Benchmark literally made the stock DAC unlistenable and this is no exaggeration. And the stock DAC is considered a reference by a number of reviewers! Since my experience with Mojo had all been positive and none of what Benjamin had told me regarding his products had been exaggerated, I decided to try the Mojo DAC. Glad I did. Whether it is the lack of upsampling or the lack of sound degrading filters or the superior parts used, the DAC was a move up from the modified Benchmark – in some very important ways. The Mojo DAC was more detailed, dynamic (by a small amount), much more organic and simply more musical. The Mojo DAC just presents the music in a way that to the ear and brain is simply right – more like real music. Hard to define, but you know it when you hear it. Interesting enough, prior to the Mojo DAC, I greatly preferred Amarra in my system, but after the Mojo DAC, I prefer Audirvana with its bit-perfect, unadulterated signal. I think this may be a nod to the way the Mojo just lets the music flow without any need of software manipulation. I always recommend the Mojo DAC (and its other products) to anyone auditioning anything even close to their price range. I don’t see how anyone can go wrong when Mojo Audio give you 45-days to audition their products. – Owen S., FL __________________________________________________________________________________ Needless to say I was fairly impressed with Ben's power cords; so much so that I asked him to modify my MHDT Havana DAC. I sent it to him and he immediately informed me I needed to sell my DAC and demo his latest creation. I went to Ben's home with the intention of being underwhelmed by big words and decent tunes. The differences between this...DAC and the Havana were night and day. The Mojo Audio DAC was more refined, lower noise, bigger, bolder and more organic. These babies weren't even in the same league. Ben has since upgraded the DAC about 5 times, each time sending me a new iteration to test and evaluate. The latest version having transformed..to a piece of gear that could be lived with for a good long time. At this DAC's price point it is a truly wonderful piece of gear. I can say from experience that the Mojo Audio DAC is very much competitive with the best out there. I found that the Mojo DAC easily bested Musatex Bitstream, Bel Canto, Benchmark, and PS Audio Perfect Wave all of which I've had fly through my system. – Ryan M.,NC (Owner, Core Audio Technology) __________________________________________________________________________________ Rarely can I say I've been so impressed with a company or their products. After I replaced all the power cords in my system with the Mojo I tried his interconnects. Same results. I sold off my high end wires used and had money left over. Ben had been telling me about a DAC prototype he was working on. I've been a vinyl guy for many years. The big reason I have a digital system is I can't find the new music I like on vinyl so I don't have a choice. All I can say is the Mojo DAC sounds more like analogue than anything I've ever heard. In some ways it actually sounds better than vinyl and in some ways not quite as good. In any event, I don't find it a compromise to buy CDs anymore. I've had some big names like the Benchmark DAC1, Consonance Droplet, Shanling 200 (with level 2 upgrades), Wadia, Accuphase, Teac VRDS, and even some modified vintage gear that weighed as much as a boat anchor and had a Philips TDA1541 chip in it. They were not even close to Ben's DAC. Ben tells me he's working on a DAC that play native 24/192 files and will also be non-oversampling and have a USB input. He says it should be out some time next year. I told him to put my name at the top of the list to buy one. Every product I've bought from Mojo sounds natural, musical and coherent just like they say. With a 30 day money back guaranty and 90 day upgrade option its a real no brainer. – Rooney, Pittsburgh, PA__________________________________________________________________________________

Naim nDAC - Mint Customer Trade-In - Like New Condition!!
For sale is a mint customer trade-in unit of the Naim DAC. This unit was purchased brand new from us in late 2012 with a 338xxx serial number and comes complete with the original factory packaging, Naim Tibia power cord, link plug, owner's manual, and lavendar DIN cable. The unit will be double-boxed, prior to shipment, to preserve the factory carton. Here is what Naim states regarding this unit: Capable of partnering and upgrading a wide range of Naim products, the DAC has more in common with our CD players than with any conventional DAC. Its Burr-Brown converter chips, for instance, are also found in our flagship CD555 CD player. The DAC overcomes the jitter inherent in standard digital connections by reading data independent of its timing signal. Its digital filtering, based on a 40bit floating-point SHARC DSP chip running unique Naim code, sets new standards in its class. If the DAC’s music performance is extreme, its flexibility is just as remarkable. With eight S/PDIF and two USB inputs, it’s adaptable to any system configuration and can grow to meet any need. Features Eight S/PDIF inputs for digital sources like games consoles, set top boxes and hard disk servers Two USB inputs (one front, one rear) 40bit SHARC DSP chip handling filtering and oversampling Plays audio files at up to 24bit/768kHz resolution Front-panel input controls adapt to become playback controls when iOS or USB devices are connected Use to upgrade the onboard DAC of the CD5 XSand CDX2 CD players and the HDX hard disk player/server. Technology & Craft The Naim DAC is the end result of several years of research. It introduced several original digital music technologies that have since gone on to help inform the development of an entire range of streaming products. The DAC overcomes the jitter issues of S/PDIF by reading the music into a "rotating" data RAM buffer independently of its timing signal and reading it out again clocked by one of ten extremely low noise, fixed frequency crystal sine-wave oscillators. The data entering the downstream digital filtering and DAC chips is then completely isolated from the incoming S/PDIF jitter. The Naim DAC also suppresses RF noise from S/PDIF through electrical isolation of its DSP front end from the digital to analogue converter and analogue circuits. Each element is also run from separate power supplies. The Naim DAC's digital filtering is handled by a powerful SHARC DSP chip running unique Naim authored code to create an ultra-high precision 40-bit floating point filter. The filter over-samples by 16 times on 44.1kHz data and provides stop-band attenuation of 180dB on all data. Following the digital filter are the two mono Burr-Brown digital to analogue converter chips, as used in the CD555 CD player. Finally the Naim DAC features a very high performance, low noise, and low distortion fully discrete analogue output stage. Features & Design Full-featured Tube D/A converter Class-A triode vacuum-tube output stage for single-ended & balanced operationSignal Path We believe that the simplest circuits work best together with the shortest signal path. Logical sequenced soft-start power up for extended tube life Warm up function 0dB negative feedback (of any kind ) Ultra short signal path Simplest direct circuit path for purest musical sound and high reliability Low output impedance for driving long runs interconnect to an amplifier, and any tube or solid state power amp No solid state devices in the analog tube output (signal path ) Minimal discrete wiring for optimum signal propagation No followers or buffers in the signal path High quality parts throughout Fully hand assembled to insure the highest level of craftsmanship Separate analog output stage for left and right channel Analog inputs ( single-eded and fully balanced) All digital inputs Internal hardware PCM upsampler for CD sources to 24/192K (can be disabled) Native 192kHz PCM and DSDx128 conversion Ultra-low jitter internal clock generator USB input (24/192 asynchronous and DSD) Power SupplyThe power supplies have been further refined with new components and enhanced AC line noise filtration. Separate power transformer windings and filters provide total isolation between the input and output stage which makes this a pure power source and it is a critical attribute for a 6H30 output stage. In its digital section, four Burr-Brown PCM -1704K DACs are arrayed in a true differential dual mono configuration. The differential gain stage is composed of two 6H30 high-current tubes per channel. The Skylla DAC features a vastly overrated, high capacity power supply for the 6H30 analog output stage with tube “bridge” rectification, choke coupling, three oversized power transformers, two for the analog and one for the digital section. The Skylla`s sound is rich and detailed, highly transparent and holographic, the resulting sound field representing an complete, realistic reproduction of the recording, a life-like mirror-image of the original performance. The Skylla DAC provides audiophiles with a new, exalted level of digital playback experience, comparable only to the best available analog sources. The Skylla II produces a fast tight bass, warm fluid mids, super smooth highs! If this is not the finest DAC you have ever heard - Send It Back!
